The Annual SUFC Jersey Calcutta aims to raise money for the Club, directly benefiting the players in an exciting way.
What is the change in 2024?
In 2024, SUFC will be running the Jersey Calcutta in a combined ‘One Club’ approach. When you purchase your jersey, you will be the jersey owner of the specified number across Men’s 1st XV (Shute Shield) and Women’s 1st XV (Sydney Women’s Premier Rugby).
The aim is to choose which jersey (1-15) you think will be awarded the combined most best and fairest points at the end of the season (you are purchasing a jersey number and NOT a particular player/s). Bids can be from an individual or a syndicate, the reserve bid is $400 for 1st XV Men’s and Women’s jersey. At seasons end, the combined scores from both Men’s and Women’s will be awarded the Jersey Calcutta winner in 2024. This will be announced at the ‘End of Season’ presentation on the 7th of September.
For the 18 rounds (plus finals) of the 2024 Shute Shield and 16 rounds (plus finals) of the Sydney Women’s Premier Rugby, the 1st XV Coaches will judge which jersey receives 3, 2 or 1 Best & Fairest points. Note: If a player is replaced during a match, the replacement player assumes the number of the original player for the purposes of the competition.
At the end of the playing season (including finals), the combined jersey number that accumulated the most Best and Fairest points will be announced the winner of the Jersey Calcutta.
Steve Smith wins the bid to purchase SUFC #2 in the Jersey Calcutta and the Men’s #2 finishes on 21 points for the season, with the Women’s #2 finishes on 22 points for the season
Total jersey Calcutta = 43 points
The 15 jersey purchasers will be announced on Tuesday 2nd April along with entry to the ‘End of Season awards’ where they will receive a personalised SUFC playing jersey presented by the respective Match Day players.
