On behalf of the Sydney University Football Club (SUFC), I would like to welcome you all to the start of the 2017 season.
Grand Final Day at North Sydney Oval in 2016 struck a chord with fans of club rugby Australia-wide. It’s a competition that produces “crowd on its feet” performances with all the passion and precision we love about our game.
As a member of SUFC you make a commitment to help us continue to grow the game we love and to support the growth of the young men and women who play it in the blue and gold hoops. For us it starts by providing an environment where young people can gives their best in all moments no matter what the circumstances and no matter how they feel.
For some this will mean they perform beyond the level of club rugby and go onto represent their state and country. In 2016 Tom Robertson and Tolu Latu became the most recent SUFC players to become Wallabies.
For all our players it means learning what it means to contribute to a community, and to our pride. We talk about our players achieving the ultimate status of the SUFC Lion, striving to give their best in all moments and being the protector of the past, present and future for SUFC.
As a member of SUFC you join our Lions in that intention. This year we look to connect with even more of our past players and stalwarts, with the introduction of the new SURPASS membership. The first round on Friday 31 March is a celebration of all our players, past and present, unified by our passion for the Club.
Your support is critical to us getting the job done, and is greatly appreciated. We hope you’ll join us in 2017.
Up the students!
Angus Stuart
