Sydney University Football Club mourns the passing of Saxon White, a distinguished member of our rugby community who played with the Club from 1953 to 1959. Saxon was a formidable inside centre, known for his skill, composure, and commitment to the game. Over his six seasons at SUFC, he played 80 First Grade matches and 86 games in total, leaving a legacy on and off the field.

Educated at Sydney Boys High School, Parramatta High School, and The King’s School, Saxon’s rugby journey culminated in national honours when he made his Wallaby debut in 1956 against South Africa. He went on to earn seven Test caps, with his final appearance in 1958 against the New Zealand Māori. He will forever be remembered as Wallaby #416 and SUFC Wallaby #51.

In recognition of his contribution to the Club and the game, Saxon was celebrated at the inaugural SUFC Legends Lunch in 2019 — a fitting tribute to a man whose legacy continues to inspire generations of players.

Saxon is survived by his beloved wife Julie, his son Matthew—who proudly followed in his father’s footsteps by playing for SUFC—and his daughters Lisa and Jessica. The Club extends its deepest sympathies to the White family during this time of loss. Saxon’s contribution to SUFC and Australian rugby will not be forgotten.
