With the metamorphosis of the clubs coaching structure in the offseason it is now an opportune moment to introduce Chris Delooze back to the Birthplace.

The former University and Munster Ireland scrum half has returned to Camperdown on his third mission as a coach.

With previous roles directing the women’s program, in 2026 Chris Delooze will be the attack coach for first grade, There is also a role overseeing the development and recruitment  pathways aspect of the club throughout grade, colts and the women.

“It’s great being back. It’s high energy and being given a full time role. I’m sitting just a metre from where I sat before,” said Delooze.

With a solid CV assisting recently with the Wallaroos and head coach at the Manly Marlins, Delooze has a single mantra to input.”Ultimately, our objective is to score tries. Within Johnny Manenti’s framework, we want to play with intent, identifying space, creating opportunity, and backing our skill. There’s a lot that underpins that approach, but if we execute it well, you should be seeing the students crossing the paint,” said Delooze.

Following a solid albeit rusty hit out recently versus the touring Oxford University team there is no doubt that this objective is starting to be developed. With some noticeable size and speed in the backline this style will be hopefully *inwrought when season 2026 kicks off in April.

Other clubs are becoming stronger and it just makes the competition even tighter. With Chris Delooze fine tuning the troops fingers crossed the clubs fortunes are slowly and surely on the rise.
