In September 2027, Sydney University will welcome some of the world’s leading university rugby programmes for the inaugural World University Rugby Invitational Tournament (WURIT). Over ten days, student-athletes from across the globe will come together to compete at the highest level of university rugby while building international friendships, sharing cultures and strengthening connections between some of the world’s most respected higher education institutions.

WURIT is about far more than what happens on the field. First established in 2015, the tournament has been designed to create a lasting legacy through education, leadership, cultural exchange and global collaboration. Alongside elite rugby, participating universities will take part in academic engagement opportunities, community initiatives and networking experiences that foster lifelong relationships between future leaders, creating an international platform that extends well beyond sport.
