Lincoln Whiteley showed great athleticism against the U20s in the trial last Friday
As part of the SUFC pre-season fixtures, the club will front two teams to play New Zealand club side Petone this Saturday at home on St John’s Oval, Sydney University.
Petone Rugby Club is based out of Wellington, and is one of the Premier Rugby Clubs in New Zealand, celebrating a long history of 130 years. Like SUFC, its history of achievements during that time is very impressive, and it has been the breeding ground for many All Black greats including former All Black captain Tana Umaga. In many ways, these fixtures between Petone and SUFC seem like a very good fit!
Petone brings over 2 sides, a Development side and their 1st Grade side, and will play against the SUFC equivalent on Saturday afternoon. However, SUFC also see this as a great opportunity for some of our young and upcoming players to come up against some tough opposition, so except some exciting youth throughout each of the teams!
The games bring about another great opportunity for the boys who have trained through the pre-season to put their skills and fitness to the test against what will be very competitive sides.
The Development sides will kick-off on St John’s Oval at 3pm, and 1st Grade at 5pm. If you are around please come down and support the boys.
Post-game both teams will head to the Harold Park Hotel for a meal and drinks, and then continue on to watch the Waratahs take on the Reds in Round 1 of the 2016 Super Rugby. All welcome from 7.30pm!
