Some of our boys training early on a Saturday morning in some muddy conditions, followed by a big breakfast feed at our favourite cafe – Ralph’s Cafe

!The smell of rugby is in the air! After many long weeks of pre-season training the boys have hit the start of the Game Specific Preparation (GSP) phase, and everyone knows what that means – trials!

The hard work has never stopped in preparation for the trial games, and of course the season that is growing closer and closer. With plenty of running, weights and the start of full club training, the boys are working harder than ever.

Throughout their training however, the boys have been lucky enough to train with some very special guests, including Sydney Swans legend Jude Bolton (a new member of the SUFC Board), Australian Cricket superstar Brad Haddin (a valued contributor and mentor for the clubs’ Leadership group) and Premiership winning West Tigers NRL player Ben Galea. All of whom were put to the test in some grueling team hills sessions! We thank them all for their incredible contribution and support of the club and particularly in preparing the boys for the season ahead.

Our boys ran one of their hardest sessions to date early one Saturday morning, watched on by some of our SUFC coaches and managers for 2016 and joined by Brad Haddin and Ben Galea! (and we can’t forget our great sponsors that make this all happen)

As with each week of pre-season we have presented winners for our club awards, this weeks’ winners of the Trainer of the Week and Clubman of the Week are:

Trainer of the Week: Sam Renton (Sam has trained this pre-season with the utmost commitment and is one of our fastest up the hill – he is definitely there to prove a point!)

Clubman of the Week: Mitchell Whiteley (Now considered a Senior member of the SUFC group, and also a key member of the SUFC Leadership Group, Mitch has been a great support to the boys throughout the hard training. He keeps the boys in line and always makes sure everyone is giving it their all in training. A great clubman!)
