Sydney University Football Club (SUFC) is proud to announce a new partnership with leading professional services firm KPMG Australia, aimed at promoting and expanding opportunities for women in rugby through SUFC’s Women’s 7s program.
As part of this exciting collaboration, SUFC will host the KPMG Women’s 7s Gala Day on September 6, a celebration of women’s rugby that will bring together clubs and colleges. With over 200 female participants expected to compete, the gala promises to be a vibrant and inclusive showcase of athleticism, teamwork, and community spirit.
This partnership supports SUFC’s strategic pillar of ‘Growing the Game’, with KPMG playing a key role in fostering a friendly, competitive, and fun environment for women to engage with rugby union. The gala day will not only highlight the talent and passion of female rugby players but also reinforce the shared commitment of SUFC and KPMG to creating meaningful pathways for women in sport.
“We are thrilled to welcome KPMG as a valued partner in our mission to grow the women’s game,” said David Lyons, SUFC President. “Their support enables us to provide more opportunities for female athletes and to celebrate the incredible community that surrounds women’s rugby.”
KPMG’s involvement reflects its broader commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community engagement, aligning perfectly with SUFC’s vision for the future of rugby.
NSW Chairman and Head of Sport at KPMG, Doug Ferguson emphasised “At KPMG, we believe in the power of sport to drive inclusion and opportunity. Supporting SUFC’s Women’s 7s program and the Gala Day aligns perfectly with our values and our commitment to empowering women both on and off the field. We’re proud to stand alongside SUFC in growing the game and creating a lasting impact in the community.”
SUFC Women’s 7s Player, Kate Barry, “Having KPMG support our Women’s 7s program means so much to us as players. It’s not just about the game—it’s about being seen, supported, and given the chance to grow. The KPMG Women’s 7s Gala Day is going to be an incredible celebration of everything we love about rugby, and we’re proud to be part of a club that’s pushing the women’s game forward.”
