SUFC is pleased to be supporting country rugby again in 2019. Our Country Round has become a highlight on the SUFC calendar and is a fixture the players and staff really look forward to. It’s a great chance for local supporters to get to a game which they ordinarily would be unable to attend, while giving our Sydney supporters a chance to enjoy a weekend away!
For the past few years we have taken a Shute Shield fixture to the Southern Highlands and the home of the Bowral Blacks, this year we head to Mudgee in Central West NSW.
SUFC has strong ties to the region with several of our players hailing from the Central West, including; Mudgee, Cowra, Dubbo, Wellington and Orange.
“As a club we believe it is important for us to support country rugby and with many players from both clubs coming from similar rural communities of NSW this is a terrific way for us to showcase the Premier NSW Rugby competition to the locals.” Says Executive General Manager David Haigh.
Sydney Uni 1st and 2nd Grade teams will be taking on Eastwood on Saturday 27th April at Glen Willow Stadium. Local team the Mudgee Wombats will play Parkes as the curtain raiser to 1st Grade.
We would encourage as many rugby supporters from both the City and Country to come out and watch some quality footy in a fantastic setting on Saturday 27th April. The 1st Grade match will be streamed live on 7TWO from 3pm.
Tickets are available for presale here >
As well as the rugby we will be hosting a food and wine festival at the game, plus a kids coaching clinic in partnership with the Classic Wallabies, jumping castle and icecream van, so make sure you bring the family along for a great day or weekend getaway!
