Halftime break and SUFC find some shade from the country heat

The SUFC pre-season culminated in the start of the 2016 trial fixtures, with 2 games played last week against NSW U20s on Friday in Sydney and VIC U20s/Southern Inland in Wagga on Saturday. Despite a narrow loss against the NSW U20s, the team in Wagga saw wins in a trial format against both the VIC U20s and Southern Inland Rugby, and across the board the performances of the boys was very pleasing for the coaching staff.

“The 40 players involved in both trials on the weekend put on a great display of the work that they had done over the past 10 weeks and I was particularly pleased with the break down, tackle and collision skills as a whole” said coach Tim Davidson.

“The games were of a high standard given the timing of the year and all teams should be commended for the effort they put in and willingness they showed to play for each other.”

The boys were lucky enough to be led by SUFC great Tom Carter, and joined by the coaching staff too – Rob Taylor and Tim Davidson pulling on the boots!

It is only the start of the games for SUFC, but Davidson is happy with how it is all tracking, and that the continued success is not possible without the support of the entire club.

“Whilst it is very early on and we have a lot of work to do it is great to see the results of the hard work and commitment not only showed by the players but all the volunteers and coaches as well.”
