SUFC is delighted to announce our second guest speaker Pat Howard, EGM, Team Performance, Cricket Australia.
Pat started his sporting career by playing for Queensland University whilst studying for a pharmacy degree at The University of Queensland. He went on to become a rugby union international, playing 20 Tests for the Wallabies from 1993-1997 and winning a Bledisloe in 1994. When he returned from England in 2001 Pat joined the University of Sydney Football Club to continue his rugby.
In 2004 he became Director of Rugby at Leicester Tigers, considered the leading professional rugby club in Britain. In 2007 he was European Director of Rugby and the first person to be European coach and player of the year.
In 2007 he moved back to Australia to become General Manager of the High Performance Unit of Australian Rugby Union where he was responsible for the recruiting of the 2007-11 Wallabies management. Pat has worked with Cricket Australia, responsible for all Men’s and Women’s professional cricket. Pat’s father Jake was a Sydney University legend and won the World Cup as an assistant coach with the Wallabies in 1991.
