Melbourne Rebels stalwart prop Laurie Weeks has announced his retirement from Super Rugby.
A foundation player with Melbourne after starting his career in Queensland, 32-year-old Weeks has battled to return to the top level after a series of injuries.
Weeks bows out with 107 Super Rugby and two Wallaby caps over 10 years, including 85 games for the Rebels between 2011-2018.
The tighthead prop said his decision to retire was a relatively easy one.
“Whilst I still and always will love the game, after over a decade of professional rugby I felt my desire and motivation had waned,” Weeks said.
“I actually wasn’t too emotional, which is very rare for me, and that is probably a great indicator that I’m making the right decision.”
Weeks will take up an off-field position in the Rebels’ commercial team for the 2019 Super Rugby season.
