The two fastest growing areas in rugby are female and junior participation, in 2018 Sydney Uni men’s and women’s clubs officially merged to provide equal opportunities for both our male and female athletes. The merger along with the grassroots pathway we have been developing with our junior feeder club’s (Balmain, Canterbury and Petersham) has seen the level of participation at SUFC increase by 40% since 2018.
For SUFC to continue to be the benchmark rugby club in Australia we need to continue to invest in the development of both our Junior’s and Women’s programs, this ultimately means having a dedicated and passionate fulltime member of staff on board to lead the charge. Thanks to the kind generosity from donors at the KPMG Finals Lunch, we are now in a financial position to be able to advertise the role of Director of Women’s Rugby and Juniors Development.
