Fizza’s Facts and Stats

After nearly three years of Covid 19 and seven months of Hospitals specialists and forever appointments. Fizza Facts and Stats are back

And a very Happy Birthday to us. This year the SUFC is 160 years old.

Some things that happen in 1863, were Newington College open the same year. ‘Banker’ won the Melbourne cup.  Sir Charles Wade was the Premier of NSW.  Railway stations went into operation.  Camperdown Post Office was open. The Nepean Railway bridge was also open this year. And wait it, Brewarrina was proclaimed a township.

Last weekend we played Randwick as a home, and met their seven teams on 4 different fields due to the weather. Of the players that played in the trial games at the end of March , last weekend 46 of them were out, and didn’t play.

At this stage, Round 6 this weekend, Hunter-Newcastle are leading the Shute Shield comp. They have only lost one game and that was the ’varsity a couple of weeks back.

Our second grade are undefeated leaders with their last three games being won by 47, 45 and 43 (maybe a 49 this) they have also scored 7 tries in each of those matches.

Our 3rd Grade lost their first game against Randwick last Saturday. This team is scoring 3 tries a game in the 4 games played, Bye vs Hunter-Newcastle.

Like other teams we have who have to forfeit through lack of numbers. Our grade and colts sides have missed games so far, missing 6 games.

At the moment we are 3rd in the Club Championship, but not by much.

Tasman Smith is the 1st XV leading point scorer on 16 points while Eddy King is the leading try scorer on 3 tries.

In second Grade Theo Strang is cleaning up there with 24 points. Jamie Clarke and Kyle Bowen both have 3 tries.

While Felipe Cordoba has 3 tries in 3rd grade and 2 in 4ths to lead the club with 5 from 4 games.

Super Stats updates, Jake Gordon played his 30th game as Captain for the Waratahs and is now only behind Dave Dennis 44 games and Phil Waugh 58.

Jake played his 82nd game and has scored 135 points or 27 tries so far.

While Harry Johnson-Holmes played his 75th Tah’s game and scored his 10th try and 50 pts.
