Rohan O’Regan is in special company now that he is 1st Grade Captain.

You see Rohan is only the 4th Student to come out of Newington College to lead our 1st Grade team. The others were Nick Farr-Jones 1987, ‘Dinny’ Love 1932 and Percy B. Colquhon 1896. Well done mate.

Bernard Foley and Jake Gordon scored half the Tahs points (25) in Japan last weekend, with 2 tries to Jake and Bernie kicking 6 goals and a pen goal.

We had 12 new players make their Grade debut on Saturday, five of those in 1st Grade. Ratu Rotuisolia and Harry Potter scored their first try in the main game. While, Silas Lawther picked up two and Nathaniel Tamwoy and Connor Farnell (pictured) scored one each.

Nick Phipps was added to the 1st Grade hat-trick list when he scored 3 tries on Saturday.

Three of our four grade teams were awarded Penalty tries, so we have Nick and Penalty Tries equal top try scorers in the club.

There were two other players who picked up doubles on the weekend, Will Wennerbom (plus 3 goals) in 4th Grade and Matt Dowsett 2 in 2nd grade. You may remember Matt late last year played the last 8 matches and scored 12 tries. His update now 14 from 9 games.

Our 1st Grade side had just 164 1st Grade games between them, an average of 11 games each. That’s just over half a season in the main side.

The average age of the 1st Grade forward pack was just 23.2 years and our backs average age 22.4 years with four 21 year olds and two 22 years olds. The average age for the 1st XV last weekend was 22.8 years.

1st Grades 36-12 win was our 33rd win in a row over the ‘Two Blues’, going back to 1998.

Of the 12 players who received Best & Fairest points last Saturday, nine of them were forwards.

Of the 25 tries scored by the Grade teams only 13 conversions were successful.

We lead the Club Championship with all teams winning with a bonus point.

Welcome back to Gavin Crawford this Saturday to start his 20th season at our great club. Congratulations Gav.
