Did you know:
Last Saturday was the 33rd win in a row over Western Sydney/Parramatta dating back to 8.5.1999 at “Death Valley” or it could/should be our first win over the Western Sydney “Two Blue’s” 49-3 at their new ground at Lidcombe Oval.
As a club we won all games in Grade and Colts which pushed us up to first place in the Club Championship.
Patrick O’Doherty made his debut run on game for 1st Grade after last weeks debut replacement game. I’m sure he will never forget it as he went over for 2 (Folau Fainga’a look-a-like tries) at the back of the maul.
We also had two more players make their 1st Grade debut, congratulations Tom Osborne and Nathaniel Tamwoy.
Not since Round 3 last year (21st April), have we had two players score 3 tries each in a 2nd grade match. Ben Hughes and Hugh Summerhayes both picked up hat tricks on Saturday. The previous players were Dan Calavassy and Ed King verses Wests at home.
James Kane kicked his 250 conversion in 1st Grade vs Western Sydney. He is now on 882 career points and may reach his 900 against the ‘Rats’ next week at home.
Our 3rd Grade team scored 10 tries in their big win and new kicker Tom Woodcock kicked 8 from 10, after not having a shot in round 1.
Stu Dunbar finally reached his 400 career points with a late goal in the 3 o’clock game. While one week late Harry Potter reached his 200 career points since Colts in round 1 and scored 2 more on Saturday to take him to 210 points. After a nervous start Connor O’Shea missed his first 3 shots then went on to kick 8 in a row. This took Connor past his 150 career points. Will Wennerbom, 4th Grade fullback came on as replacement in both the 3rd Grade and 2nd grade games, and was quite a handy replacement, scoring 3 tries and 6 goals (27 Points) in less than an hour on the field.
At this stage of the season, and its only Round 2, we have 4 players on 3 tries each, and they are Harry Potter, Ben Hughes, Hugh Summerhayes and Will Wennerbom.
See you at the SUFG next week vs Warringah (Grand Final rematch)
