Did you know:
That if we produce another successful weekend like last Saturday (7 wins and 6 bonus points) we shall have won the Club Championship with a round to play. If we loose every game against Gordon in the last game of the season we still will win it by 76 points.
Our 1st XV achieved a new record against Souths with the highest points ever scored against them (62) beating 59 points in the 2009 season. Also in the 30 away games at Forshaw Park we have played, Saturday was only our 16th win at Sylvania. A hard place to pick up a win. Our win was the third highest in our history verses the Rebels, behind 58-10 in 1991 and 48-6 in 2013.
We picked up our tenth player this year to make his 1st Grade debut in Ben Carolan. Ben came to us some years back from Manly and has played most grades (except 1st grade), until Saturday with around 15 minutes left on the clock, on he went and made two storming runs up the middle, the second one he off loaded to Guy Porter who scored the last try of the game. Ben recently played his 50th club game and in 3rd Grade on Saturday he scored his 30th career try for the Club.
Connor Farnell scored a triple in 4th Grade and also scored the Club’s 350th try.
Eddy King reached his 100 points for the season to become our 5th centurion this year.
James Kane scored his 60th career try in 1st Grade to give him 300 points just in tries.
Two players made their Grade debut in round 16, being Peter Fenwicke, (yes son of Jim), Tom Woodcock. Tom also picked up a try for his efforts.
Our Uni Waratahs scored 21 of the 26 points in South Africa against the Lions, with Israel Folau, Tom Robertson and Jake Gordon scoring a try each and Bernard Foley kicking 3 goals.
In our Colts who haven’t lost a game since Manly 5 weeks ago, look set to make the semi finals in all three grades.
2nd Colts have passed 50 points on 9 occasions this season.
Max Robson (Colts) and Will Wennerbom (Grade) are set to reach their 200 points this Saturday verses Randwick. Both are on 195 points.
