In a heartfelt ceremony of the Blues Awards on Friday 29th November 2024, Sydney Uni Sport presented three of SUFC’s dedicated volunteers, Kirsty Stevens, Angus Wilson, and Ian Cameron, with the prestigious Gold Blazers. These awards recognise their exceptional commitment and invaluable contributions to the club over the years. Their unwavering support and tireless efforts have significantly shaped the community and spirit of SUFC, making it the thriving organisation it is today. Please read each of the bios of our incredible volunteers!
Ian Cameron – Football (Rugby Union)
Ian Cameron has been a dedicated volunteer at the Sydney Uni Football Club for over 20 years, serving as a game day announcer for more than a decade and providing general assistance throughout his time with the club. Initially drawn in as a supportive parent, Ian has made extraordinary contributions that extend well beyond the sidelines. His roles are diverse, ranging from coordinating match announcements to assisting with member services and statistics, showcasing his versatility and commitment. Ian’s enthusiasm and reliability foster a welcoming atmosphere within the Club. His immeasurable contributions reflect his passion for the sport and unwavering support for the club. *Ian couldn’t be in attendance, his blazer was received by his two sons
Angus Wilson – Football (Rugby Union)
Angus Wilson has been a key figure at the Sydney University Football Club for over nine years, serving as a volunteer board member and treasurer. His financial expertise has established sound practices that ensure the club’s stability, while his mentorship has assisted players in career development through his industry connections. Angus has also increased revenue by enhancing commercial and event sales. Although he often works behind the scenes, his dedication is vital to the Club’s success. Additionally, he serves on the board of the NSW Rugby Positive Foundation, promoting rugby participation in New South Wales.
Kirsty Stevens – Football (Rugby Union)
Kirsty has been instrumental to Sydney University Football Club, bringing a new level of professionalism with regards to events, marketing and club culture. Having first joined SUFC as a touring Team Manager in 2013, she went on to hold a fulltime position for six seasons, her work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond to assist the players, supporters and the wider stakeholders has seen the Club reach great success both on and off the field. Her efforts earned her the 2022 Professional Administrator of the Year award. Since departing the Club at the end of 2022, she has continued to volunteer for the Club as Team Manager for the Colts program as well as providing valuable mentorship and assistance to new staff members.
