On Saturday 19th March, Sydney Uni 46 defeated Eastwood 39 in the first Shute Shield rugby game on the new Sydney Uni Football Ground. There was plenty of positive feedback from a sizeable crowd of SUFC members and supporters.
Although there are lots of additional finishing touches to be applied over the next and final three months of the BUILDING ON EXCELLENCE campaign, the grand opening will take place on the evening of Wednesday 6th April.
There is still time to name a seat or row of seats in the new grandstand. In the last few days, Ed Walgien named seats in memory of his parents and James Dorney named a row of seats in honour of the Dorney Family.
Please join a great many of your fellow SUFC members and supporters who have already made tax deductible donations to the BUILDING ON EXCELLENCE campaign.
All donations of $250 or more will be acknowledged on the donor recognition wall in the grandstand’s wonderful new function room. Additionally, donations of $1,000 or more will be acknowledged on named seats in the new grandstand. Contributions of $5,000 qualify for a whole row of named seats.
So, if you have a passion for rugby at Sydney Uni and are in a position to make a (further) tax deductible donation to this landmark development in the Club’s history, please complete and return the attached BUILDING ON EXCELLENCE tax deductible donation form as soon as possible.
In the coming weeks, you will marvel at the 1,100 seat grandstand; the elite athlete gymnasium; the indoor cricket and training centre; the southern entertainment deck; the function room for 300 seated guests and its adjoining bar to service both internal and external patrons.
All of these remarkable facilities will be named after exceptionally generous donors to the BUILDING ON EXCELLENCE campaign.
However, we are still keen to bestow naming rights on five other new facilities:
– new digital scoreboard
– the club meeting room for pre and post-match analysis
– two home changing rooms
– two away changing rooms
– the covered northern entertainment deck of the new grandstand
Enquiries about the unnamed facilities are encouraged on 9351 7958 or to [email protected]
Perhaps groups of players from specific eras might bandy together in order to name these facilities after SUFC legends from their playing days at the birthplace of Australian rugby?
Remember … no donation is too small (or too large)!
The BUILDING ON EXCELLENCE campaign has involved a remarkable team effort by the Clubs which will primarily benefit from the new Sydney Uni Football Ground facilities.
Let’s get to the finish line of the fundraising campaign in true Sydney University Football Club style.
Your contributions will be a wonderful legacy to rugby at Sydney Uni.
