Congratulations to Ben Carolan who makes his 100th Grade appearance for the Club as 4th Grade run out on Saturday at the SUFG.
Ben played his Colts footy at Manly, luckily for us, he saw the light in 2016 and came across to the Students. In his first year with the Club he helped 3rd Grade to the Henderson Shield Premiership and picked up the Craig Fear Encouragement Award for most best & fairest points across the grades.
In 2017, 3rd Grade made it to the semi-finals, narrowly missing their spot in the big dance. 2018, while not playing in the final, Ben did make a significant contribution to 1st Grade’s Shute Shield title having made 5 appearances for the team in the later stages of the season.
He picked up another title in 2019 with 2nd Grade’s big win over Easts at BankWest Stadium, unfortunately Ben ruptured his MCL in the 2020 Preliminary finals and missed out on back-to-back titles with 2nd Grade. However, like the committed man he is, he was back on his feet and running water for the team on that special day at Leichhardt.
Back from injury and on track to make his 100th appearance in 2021, before COVID hit and another player had to wait to reach the milestone.
A player who has contributed to every senior Grade in the Club and has 12 1st Grade games to his name. Caro’s contribution to the Club was acknowledged in 2018 when he was named Clubman of the Year, although only on paper that year, he has been an exceptional clubman for his entire seven years of service.
We’re extremely glad he’s kept returning each preseason, and it’s great to see Caro reach this milestone. Enjoy the moment!
