The NSW Waratahs Women have named their team for the Buildcorp Super W Final this Sunday at Leichhardt Oval, as they prepare to take on arch-rivals Queensland.
Undefeated throughout the 2019 season, the NSW Waratahs Women are preparing to defend their title in a 2018 Super W rematch.
NSW Waratahs Women’s Head Coach Matt Evrard today unveiled his side that will line up in front of a home crowd.
“It’s a final, so you can throw most things out the window. It will be the team who plays their best game on the day and makes the least errors. That’s what it will come down to,” said Evrard.
“I’m confident in our team, confident in how they’ve prepared.
“It’s always good to play Queensland, you get that quality game.
“As a group they are extremely good as a group at keeping themselves motivated… they constantly keep pushing themselves…. they’re not undefeated for no reason,” he said.
For Emily Chancellor, she had to watch last year’s final from the sideline and is hungry to get out on the field with her teammates come Sunday.
“Unfortunately missed out last year, but excited to step out with the girls this year.
“There is no grand final you’re going to play that isn’t going to be a good competition, I’m sure it’s going to be a good battle.
“I think we’ve seen throughout the whole Super W season the standard has lifted across the board,” she said.
Finishing the regular season on top of the ladder not only earned New South Wales a home grand final for the second year running but also earned them a week off, which Chancellor said has been good.
“I think for us it was an opportunity to reflect on the season we’ve had, celebrate minor premiership, fix a few niggles from the season and focus fully on the next game,” she said.
