Over the weekend our U17s girls and U17s boys competed in the 7s State Championship held in Bowral.
U17s Girls
At the end of Day 1 our girls finished 3-1, with victories over Norths, Central West and MNC Tomahawks and a loss to eventual winners Randwick Magic, their placing put them in contention for the title the following day. Unfortunately, they went down to a strong Manly Mermaids in the play-offs to miss out on the Grand Final, however they came home strong with a convincing win over North West to end the tournament in third place.
U17s Boys
Our boys picked up two solid wins on day 1 beating North Coast and the Two Blues, unfortunately they suffered losses to Penrith and a heart-breaking one-point defeat by the Central West to put them into the Bowl play-offs for Day 2. They faced the Two Blues again in the Bowl Semi Final on Sunday morning and managed to grind out the win to put them into the final, where they defeated the Central Coast and claimed the Bowl title which was presented to them by Aussie 7s and SUFC 1st Grade player, Angus Bell.
Congratulations to both teams and all the coaching staff on an amazing effort. The future is looking bright for the Blue and Gold!
