Despite not making the Grand Final, the 1st Grade team still had many things to celebrate.
On Grand Final day, three SUFC 1st Grade players were presented as nominees for the 2014 Ken Catchpole Medal for the player of the Shute Shield; Tom Boidin, James Dargaville and Henry Clunies-Ross. The Ken Catchpole Medal was awarded to Warringah player Hamish Angus, however SUFC did not walk away empty handed. Henry Clunies-Ross was announced as the 2014 Shute Shield Rookie of the Year. A huge congratulations to Henry – was a bright future ahead!
A number of 1st Grade players were also included in the Rugby News Shute Shield Team of the Year, with Tom Carter, James Dargaville and Henry Clunies-Ross making up part of the backline, as well as Sam Talakai on the bench. Well done boys!
